The event saw the African Bitcoin Community (ABC) partnership bring together developers, educators, community builders and enthusiasts under a shared agenda of expanding gender diversity in crypto. The fellows participated in a series of curated workshops, networking sessions and talks by established Bitcoin figures, culminating in a “Women in Building” workshop that sparked candid dialogue on navigating a traditionally male‑dominated field.

The event also highlighted the role of community sponsors and supporters. Representatives from BTCsessions, Lucas DCF, Bernard Parah, Megasley and BriimHD were on hand, providing logistical assistance and mentorship. Founder Marcel Orraine, credited as the “bridge” for the initiative, and Farida N, a vocal advocate for women as builders and leaders, were thanked for their commitment to the cause.
The Africa Bitcoin Conference’s focus on gender inclusion aligns with a growing trend across the crypto sector, where organizations are increasingly allocating resources to diversity programs. According to recent industry reports, women remain under‑represented in blockchain development, accounting for roughly 12 % of contributors globally. Initiatives like this cohort aim to address that gap by offering hands‑on training, networking opportunities and visibility for female talent in Africa’s burgeoning crypto markets.
As the conference concluded, organizers expressed optimism that the momentum generated will translate into sustained participation and leadership from women across the continent’s Bitcoin landscape.
