Stellar Launches Global Ambassador Program With a Builder Path to $150K in Funding

The Stellar Development Foundation has launched a global Ambassador Program designed to support builders at every stage of their journey, from learning the basics of Stellar to launching products that can qualify for startup funding.

Unlike a traditional ambassador program that focuses mainly on community outreach, Stellar's initiative is structured as a progression. Participants move through four tiers based on their experience and contributions, unlocking new opportunities as they grow within the ecosystem.

The program is rolling out through ambassador chapters across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, where local communities will host workshops, mentorship sessions, technical events, and builder activities.

From Your First Workshop to Startup Funding

At the center of the Ambassador Program is a single builder pipeline.

Someone discovering Stellar through a local workshop begins as an Explorer. As they contribute to the community, build products, and take on leadership roles, they progress through the program while gaining access to more technical support, funding opportunities, and ecosystem resources.

And for projects that reach the Builder stage, local chapters can award Instawards of up to $15,000 to support early experimentation and prototype development.

Promising teams may then be referred into the Stellar Community Fund (SCF) Build Award pipeline, where eligible projects can receive up to $150,000 in XLM to move from a validated concept toward a mainnet launch.

Instead of separating education, grants, and startup support into different programs, Stellar has connected them into one continuous pathway.

The Four Ambassador Tiers

Tier Who It's For Opportunities
Explorer Anyone new to Stellar Onboarding, educational resources, workshops, local chapter activities
Contributor Members actively supporting the ecosystem Technical bootcamps, advanced learning tracks, speaking opportunities, mentorship
Builder Teams building applications on Stellar Builder retreats, product integration support, conference representation, Instawards worth up to $15,000
Ecosystem Leader Experienced community leaders Leadership mandates, regional initiatives, founder-readiness support, ecosystem acceleration

Explorer

Explorer is the starting point for anyone joining the ecosystem.

Members complete onboarding, join a local ambassador chapter, and begin learning through workshops and educational resources while connecting with other developers in their region.

Contributor

The Contributor tier recognizes members who are actively helping grow the ecosystem.

This includes developers delivering workshops, creating technical content, mentoring newcomers, or supporting local communities.

Contributors gain access to structured bootcamps, advanced technical tracks, and opportunities to represent the ecosystem through speaking engagements.

Builder

The Builder tier is aimed at teams actively creating products on Stellar.

Qualification includes deploying smart contracts, building a working MVP, or contributing to a project funded through the Stellar Community Fund.

Builders receive product integration support, invitations to builder retreats, conference representation, milestone-based incentives, and access to Instawards worth up to $15,000 through their local chapters.

Ecosystem Leader

The highest tier is reserved for members helping grow the ecosystem beyond their own projects.

That includes leading hackathon tracks, mentoring teams that ship products, organizing regional initiatives, and supporting new founders entering the ecosystem.

Ecosystem Leaders also receive founder-readiness support for teams preparing to raise capital.

Building Through Local Chapters

Stellar says the Ambassador Program is designed around local communities rather than a single global online network.

Ambassador chapters across Africa, Asia, and Latin America will organize workshops, technical meetups, mentorship sessions, and other community activities tailored to builders in their regions.

The chapter model also gives local communities a direct role in identifying promising builders and recommending projects for additional support through Instawards and the Stellar Community Fund.

Why This Matters

Many blockchain ecosystems already offer ambassador programs, hackathons, grant programs, and startup accelerators. These initiatives often operate independently, requiring builders to navigate different application processes as they move from learning a protocol to building a business.

Stellar's Ambassador Program brings those stages together under a single framework. A developer attending their first workshop can continue contributing to the community, begin building products, access prototype funding through Instawards, and eventually qualify for larger grants through the Stellar Community Fund without leaving the same ecosystem.

For developers in regions such as Africa, where local ambassador chapters are launching alongside the program, that structure could make it easier to move from community participation to product development and, ultimately, startup funding.
