Visa Expands Visa Pay Across Africa With New SDK for Banks and Fintechs

Visa has expanded its Visa Pay platform across Africa and Central Asia with a new software development kit (SDK) that enables banks, mobile money operators and fintechs to integrate Visa's payment services directly into their existing mobile applications.
The SDK is designed to help financial institutions launch digital payment products more quickly by providing built-in issuer processing, tokenization capabilities, security features and compliance components. Instead of building payment infrastructure from scratch, providers can embed Visa Pay into their existing apps to roll out new services faster.
Issuers already adopting the SDK span several markets, including Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Comoros, Mauritius, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Tanzania, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan. Partners include banks, mobile money operators, fintechs and licensed payment service providers.
Visa Pay supports a range of digital payment use cases, including e-commerce payments, remittances, mobile money-linked virtual cards, person-to-person transfers, virtual card issuance and humanitarian disbursements. The platform is designed to enable both domestic and cross-border transactions while improving interoperability between Visa's network and local digital wallets.
Visa also plans to expand the platform with Tap to Pay functionality, allowing users to make contactless payments by tapping their smartphones at compatible payment terminals. The feature is expected to further extend Visa Pay's capabilities as digital and cashless payments continue to grow across the region.
