Kenya Airways has teamed up with Visa and Absa Bank Kenya to launch a new travel card that lets customers earn airline rewards from everyday spending.
The Asante Global Card targets frequent travellers, professionals and premium banking customers, allowing cardholders to earn Asante Rewards Points on purchases ranging from groceries and fuel to dining, travel and international payments.
The points can then be redeemed across Kenya Airways' network, turning routine card spending into airline rewards.
The card comes in Signature and Platinum variants. New Signature cardholders receive 10,000 Asante Rewards Points as a welcome bonus, while Platinum cardholders receive 5,000 points. Beyond rewards, the cards come with travel-focused benefits including complimentary airport lounge access, travel and medical insurance, additional baggage allowance and SkyPriority services.
Cardholders will also have access to lifestyle perks including discounts on shopping and dining, as well as experiences such as golf tournaments and wine tastings.
For Kenya Airways, the partnership gives the airline another way to keep customers engaged beyond the point of booking a flight. Customers can continue earning Asante points while spending on everyday purchases, rather than only when they travel.
“We are seeing strong demand from Kenyan consumers for products that reward how they already spend and travel,” said John Njoroge, Visa's Country Manager for Kenya.
Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu said the card is designed to turn daily transactions into opportunities for flight rewards, point conversions and benefits across the airline's network and partner airlines.
The Asante Global Card is now available to customers in Kenya, with applications handled online through the Asante programme.
