Kenya‑South Africa Entrepreneurship Immersion Exchange by Standard Bank

The initiative aims to catalyse collaboration across East Africa’s fast‑growing tech landscape, offering participants access to investors, policy makers and corporate partners in Kenya’s “agile, tech‑driven economy.”

The program, co‑led by Letsema senior partner Tafadzwa Mudyiwa and in‑country consultant Isaac Kabage, is structured around a mix of networking dinners, matchmaking sessions and curated visits to Nairobi’s leading hubs. The opening night will take place at The View Rotating Restaurant in Westlands, followed by an ecosystem dinner at Nairobi Street Kitchen on 19 November and a final matchmaking dinner at Geco Café on 20 November. Organisers have invited ecosystem leaders, investors and development partners to co‑host sessions, signalling a broader push to weave South African startups into East Africa’s supply chains and market opportunities.

Among the South African cohort are firms spanning ICT, digital services and impact‑driven agribusiness. Dots Africa will showcase its SaaS‑based KYC/KYB verification platform, while Magix Africa brings cybersecurity and managed security services to the table. Infrastructure specialists Galeboe Professional Services and JRS Solutions will demonstrate data‑protection and smart‑security solutions, respectively, and AdNotes will present wireless broadband leveraging TV white‑space technology for rural connectivity. Creative consultancies such as COOi Studios and Brand Contact will add design‑thinking and experiential marketing expertise, while agritech players Grain SA, SA Moqhaka Foods and All in One Emergency will illustrate how technology can boost farmer empowerment and health‑tech response capabilities.

The exchange arrives at a moment when Kenya’s digital economy, buoyed by mobile money penetration and a surge in fintech startups, is attracting regional interest. According to the Kenya ICT Authority, the country’s ICT sector contributed over 5 % to GDP in 2024, and Nairobi continues to rank among Africa’s top three tech hubs. For South African founders, the immersion offers a rare foothold in a market where regulatory frameworks, such as the Data Protection Act, are evolving alongside rapid consumer adoption of cloud services and e‑commerce platforms.

Stakeholders ranging from venture capital firms to multinational corporations have been urged to attend, reflecting Standard Bank’s broader strategy to nurture cross‑border supply‑chain integration across the continent. The bank’s Enterprise & Supplier Development Division has previously rolled out similar immersion programs in West Africa, positioning itself as a catalyst for intra‑African trade and innovation.
